Sourcing, 2026

installation, sculpture, glass, light, photography and sound.

Electromagnetic fields are all around us. Generated both by natural elements (lightning, the sun) and by human technologies (telecommunications), they weave an hybrid network imperceptible to most of us. However, many species locate themselves using the Earth’s magnetic field. Some animals secrete cryptochrome, a molecule that allows them to visualize magnetic poles as light. But the increasing density of our technological artifacts interferes with these biological compasses, and more and more species are adrift. In an era of a new invisible cartography, traces of these internal compasses have been found in humans.

Sourcing proposes to sensitize electromagnetic fields by hijacking telecommunications technologies. The installation invites the public to dive into a sculptural in-between world where these frequencies are made visible as light, powered by formal interactions and poetic investigations. Sourcing is an invitation to disorientation, to move toward where the natural and the artificial converge and to put ourselves in the position of other species than our own.

Sourcing, 2026
